Efforts are underway to build a 43-mile rail-trail between Atwood and St. Francis utilizing the former Nebraska, Kansas and Colorado Railway corridor if the railroad is willing the railbank the unused corridor. Phase I would be construction of the trail from Atwood 10.4 miles to the whistlestop of Beardsley. Local volunteers would build and maintain the trail. To volunteer contact mljhawk@hotmail.com.
